The Mediterranean environment during the 1970's

Preamble

This article centres round a corpus of three videos on Mediterranean environmental issues during the 1970s. The first two extracts are from a well-known French television programme, “La France défigurée”, which made viewers aware of environmental issues. During the 1960's programmes about the Mediterranean had focussed mainly on its underwater world, its wilderness aspect and its bucolic landscape, but in the 1970's, in keeping with the ecological trend of the time, programmes focused more on the dangers of pollution (see articles “Understanding the Mediterranean through the media” on the way the Mediterranean was shown on television, and “The Mediterranean Heritage in Danger” about the Mediterranean and its ecology in French TV news programmes).
