Abstract

Descendants of black slaves who landed in the port of Essouira, the“Gnawa” are known to communicate with the hereafter world with their singing and their music. They have the power to charm the “Evil Spirits” possessing souls during unbe-witching ceremonies where music therapy will act with the fast-paced frenzied sounds of percussion instruments.
