The archives of the Suez Canal provide a fundamental interest, both from the point of view of the history of technology and engineering (the Suez Canal was the first to have been dug by mechanical means), and that of the naval and economic history. The Canal received half of the global trafficking of goods between the two world wars. On the other hand, it was often at the heart of global political rivalries, from the repurshase of the shares of the Viceroy of Egypt by the English in 1875 to the 1956 Suez crisis, through the Turkish offenssive from 1914 to 1916 and the 1941 -1942 German attack. The archive shows the repair workshop: repairs of all kinds can be carried outin these workshops. A marine dredger is being repaired.Type
