The archives of the Suez Canal provide a fundamental interest, both from the point of view of the history of technology and engineering (the Suez Canal was the first to have been dug by mechanical means), and that of the naval and economic history. The archive shows: the Mahroussa berthed near the offices of the Canal company, in Port-Said, the statue of Ferdinand de Lesseps on the west pier, in Port-Said, the trade basin and the docks, the "Concord" destroyer entering the port, guests and delegations' arrival in Port- Fouad, arrival in Port-Fouad of Lord Lloyd, of M de Serionne, senior officer of the company, who waits for the guests. The king leaving the Mahroussa and landing on the dock of the offices of the canal company. Arrival of His Majesty in Port-Fouad. The arrival of the official tent. The new city of Port-Fouad and finally, the houses built by the company for its staff.Type
