Abstract

"Thinking the Mediterranean", organized by AlexMed since 2006, aims to enhance the dialogue on the cultural heritage of the Mediterranean region as a center of cultural exchange and co-existence, by hosting eminent intellectuals and researchers from the region. Dr Rashid Khalidi discussed how the Mediterranean region has played a central role in the strategic plan since the end of the Cold War. Among the factors cited was the growing strategic importance of the Mediterranean in recent decades.
