Abstract

Dimitrious Katsoudas delivers the speech of Mrs. Dora Bakoyannis, the Mayor of Athens. The euro-Mediterranean cooperation expresses the desire to join forces in order to shape a better future for all. Athens is a great city that has greatly shaped the culture of the Mediterranean and the whole world. Either with the participation in/or the assistance of the European union, Athens aims to modernize the structure of the political institutions and to build a strong and active civil society which will partake of the policies and actions that concern it, along with national government and supranational institutions. Local government enjoy considerable advantages, they can constitute an effective band between the center administration, the civil society, and the private sector.
