Abstract

The conferences organized within the framework of "Thinking the Mediterranean" aim at creating a field of dialogue and exchange. Mr. Habib Tawa begins his statement like this: "The title appeals to a simple intuition, that of a sea that is familiar and in which intersect for over two millennia three great monotheistic religions, not to mention those that preceded them ". Then he defines the Mediterranean in the etymological, geographical and finally religious sense. He then spoke of human bridges established by religions in the Eastern and Western Basin of the Mediterranean. Finally, he speaks of the religious importance of Alexandria.
