Abstract

The Banel sailed from Toulon to Santo Domingo on January 9, 1802. Her path was changed by a storm and she wrecked on the Algerian coast at Beni Haoua. According to the indigenous, Ma Binette, “the girls’ mother”, was a nun who survived with three other Sisters and lived long after.
