Formerly named Cirta, Constantine is also known as the ‘city of suspension bridges’. It was founded in the year 202. Ancient walled imperial city, it enjoys a strategic position, with its rock and walls. Cirta was an important Phoenician city before becoming the capital of Numidia. Constantine, one of the oldest cities of the world, is best known for the refined art of living of its inhabitants. It is also an important city in Mediterranean history and a symbol of Arab-Andalusia culture. City of the Malouf and the Ulema, it is the capital of eastern Algeria and the third largest city of the country. A poet tells his love for Constantine.Type
