Abstract

The Algerian flag is the symbol of the Algerians' identity and the expression of their will to recover freedom. The history of the national movement is linked to that of the flag which was first red, green, green and white with a hand drawn in the middle, ending in 1944 green and white with a red crescent and a star in the middle; since then, the Algerian keeps on waving that emblem of the purity of all those who sacrificed for the independence of Algeria. Interviews with Mohamed Heni and Chaouche Hebassi from the Institute of History. This documentary is also illustrated with archival images outlining the formation of the Algerian flag.
