The Chaâbi song, in its present form, owes its existence to Hadj M’ hamed El Anka. He was the undisputed creator of this particular popular music genre which derives from the Moghrabi, and whose master was Sheikh Mustapha Nador. Working with the big names of art, he managed to refine his skills thanks to his ability to assimilate and his many talents. Initially, he drew in the Medh repertory, religious songs to the Prophet’s and Islam saints' glory, which led him to absorb more of orally passed down ancient texts. in this record which was directed in 1963 by one of the pioneers of Algerian TV, he sings “Ya Ouelfi Meriem”.Type
