Abstract

The colonial invasion of the Algerian Sahara occurred in the early twentieth century, around 1917. A mining discovery will bring major changes to Kenadsa area, with subsequent difficulties of a thermal power plant construction, in 1942, and an overexploitation of the local workforce. Some miners witness and talk about difficult working conditions and diseases caused by the dust they are still suffering from. The documentary includes some archive footage of the mine site.
