Abstract

Sodium chloride (NaCl) is the scientific name of salt, material essential to the human body. This report is about the so-called white gold, in Algeria: its production dates back to a distant past, as the geology of the country is rich in salt. Algeria encouraged the salt industry by building one of the most important and modern complex in the world, to produce and commercialize this product. The report also outlines the physical characteristics of salt, the processing method and its production in Algeria throughout history.
