Abstract

Born in Algiers in the 1930' s, in the Casbah, Mohamed Oueniche attended the school of Imam EL Okbi. From his earliest years he has been interested in theater; his idols were Rachid Ksentini, Mahieddine Bachtarzi and Mohamed Touri. His first attempt at writing dates back to 1945. During the same year, he signed a contract with Bachtarzi and joined the TNA (National Theater of Algiers) .His first appearance on stage was in a play where he played the role of a black nurse, along with actress Keltoum. Mohamed Oueniche was mostly known for his roles in television and radio sketches.
