Abstract

Malek Bennabi is an Algerian thinker who was born in 1905 in Constantine and died on October 31st, 1973 in Algiers. He studied civilization issues in the Muslim world. He was strongly impregnated with the Arab-Muslim culture as well as the Western one. We owe him the concept of “Colonisibility”, according to which colonized societies have an aptitude, a behavior and a lifestyle favorable to foreign colonization, especially in Muslim countries. In this short extract from his speech at the 4th conference on Islamic thought in Constantine, Malek Bennabi calls forth the issue of the crisis of the Muslim society.
