Abu-Al-Hassan Ali Ben Nafi, also known as Zyriab ( 789-857) was born in Mosul ( Iraq), and died in Cordova. He studied and improved his talents as a singer and a musician in Baghdad. After a short stay in Tunisia, he settled in Cordova in 822;in the court of the Omeyad Emir Abd al-Rahman II. He was one of the leading figures in the history of the arab- andalusian music in the ninth century. He introduced the Oud (Arabic Luth) in Andalusia after he had added a fifth string. It is that luth which, later, spread in the rest of Europe. It is through several halts that we discover the arab music and its influence on the western one. This episode is about the halt in Budapest, hungary.Type
