Abstract

Abu-Al-Hassan Ali Ben Nafi, also known as Zyriab ( 789- 857) was born in Iraq, he was one of the leading figures in the history of Arab Andalusian music in the ninth century. He introduced the Oud (Arabic Luth) in Andalusia after he had added a fifth string. It is that luth which spread in the rest of Europe. Through several halts, the journalist Abdelkrim Sekkar lets us discover the Arab music and its influences on Western music. “In Zyriab’s tracks” stops, in this episode, in Cordoba, Spain.
