Abstract

Documentary realized by Christo Ganev on the eve of the independence of Algeria, ending 132 years of the French presence in Algeria. On 19 March 1962, at noon, a cease-fire that ended eight years of the war in Algeria officially took effect . On July 1, 1962, the Algerians voted overwhelmingly through the self-determination referendum for the independence of their country. Independence becomes effective on July 3, 1962. On July 4, Ahmed Ben Bella moved to Algiers as the President of the New Republic . On July 5, the Algerian independence was officially proclaimed.
