Abstract

Built on a 124 m high headland dominating the sea, North of Algiers, the Basilica Our Lady of Africa is reached by a cable car from the district of Bologhine. The Basilica is considered as a mirror and the pendant of Notre - Dame - de - la - Garde in Marseille, on the other side of the Mediterranean Sea. After a long period of neglect, the basilica which was deteriorated by the marine winds and the earthquakes, is now undergoing restoration.
