Abstract

Marine fisheries and aquaculture is below the basic needs in life and diet of Algerians. In addition to traditional fishing in the Mediterranean, further experiments are attempted. The farm "Zahra" is one of the major projects carried out at the Ghardaia region in southern Algeria. The city of Ouargla has also another proposed fish farm which should produce fish species for the local market.
