Abstract

Touggourt is a city of the wilaya (metropolis) of Ouargla, located at 160 km (99.4 miles) in the northeast of Ouargla, and approximately at 600 km (372.8 miles) southeast of Alger. Its name is an Amazigh word which means "the doors". The town of Touggourt is an oasis of the northeast Algerian Sahara, and it is also the largest city of the region of Oued Righ, its area spreads on these following territories: Tebesbest, Nezla, Zaouia, Al Abidia and Touggourt. The town is an important trade and tourism centre.
