Abstract

Chérif Kheddam was born in 1927 in the village of Boumessaoud in Kabylie. He went to the Koranic school, worked for a time in Algiers before taking the path of emigration at the age of twenty years to settle in Paris. While working at the factory, he starts playing guitar and lute. In his own way and throughout his career, he will strive to enrich the repertoire of the Kabyle song by leading it to open on modernity, while preserving its characteristics. Instrumentalist, composer, song writer, he is also a discoverer of talents. His radio broadcasts revealed among others Lounis Aït Menguellet. First part of the program.
