Abstract

The film focusses on the city of Rosette ( Rachid in arabic), where the famous rock that allowed to decipher the hieroglyphs was found. The city shelters very beautiful houses of the 18th century. The documentary also presents the fort of Kayetbay ( Qaitbay) in Alexandria, founded by the Mamluk Sultan, Al Ashraf who reigned from 1468 to 1496. Napoleon Bonaparte's campaign of Egypt is also mentioned. Indeed, the French built a high octagonal fort, largely based on that of Kayetbay.
