In 1883, remains of a man, Homo sapiens neanderthalensis, were found. Krapina caveman was a small to medium growth, low forehead, very strong teeth and ejected the lower face. He knew the fire and lived by hunting. The cave in which he lived many fossils were found as well as remains of animals such as cave bears, wild cattle, giant deer, moose, beaver, rhinoceros, and many others. Krapina cave man belonged to the oldest known prehistoric culture (Premousterien), for which there is evidence about 1200 pieces of stone tools. Hušnjakovo Hill is now an oasis of greenery. In the open space there are reconstructions of the Krapina Neanderthal and his family by the fire and the reconstruction of the animal. Peace, tranquility and mystique of the site will make you loose sense for present time. On the hill Hušnjak, 876 human fossil remains were found, that dozens of individuals. This is the largest collection of Neanderthal man ever found in one place. The site of Early Man in Krapina is one of Europe's largest sites.Type
