Abstract

In five million years, a large part of the Mediterranean should disappear as a result of a double thrust of European and African continental plates bringing out a mountain. For the first time, a team of researchers from Ifremer goes down to two thousands meters depth on a small submarine, the Nautilus, to explore this area of confrontation between two plates. The operation is called ‘Medinaut’.
