Abstract

The charm of light and color has always attracted artists towards the Mediterranean. This intimacy is true in Expressionism, Fauvism, Cubism, modern art ... Ernst Guse (Museum of Saarbrücken) recalls how the Swiss painter Paul Klee arrived in Tunisia in 1914, for a stay which will be determinative of his discovery of light and color. His stay lasted only two weeks but his work will be permanently transformed. The subject is illustrated by numerous views of Tunisia and paintings by Paul Klee. Some extracts from his diary are read.
