Abstract

Fifteen years after shooting his film ‘Goha, the Simple’, Jacques Baratier has started with this show to confront the imaginary past of that ‘Orient of the mind’ he had recreated in his film, with the reality of today Tunisia. He mixed sequences from the film and images of Tunisian daily life, interviewed young scholars and traditional storytellers, and found two actors of the film: Omar Sharif, who got then his first major role at the age of 22, and Claudia Cardinale, a 16 years old student that Jacques Baratier had met by chance in the street.
