Abstract

The Marseilles association ‘Ecume’ (Foam) organizes a festival of sacred songs. They welcome choirs from countries around the Mediterranean. Different traditions are then compared; the hymns are the foundation of Mediterranean songs; the words are often re-adapted to the everyday life and the religious terms discarded. The festival is held in churches, but also in other places such as social centers.
