- In a few days, the celebrations of the landing in Provence will begin,

- the opportunity for France to pay a tribute to the 90,000 Moroccans who fought under its banner to free the country.

- A little known chapter of history

- and yet those men were often placed in the front line. Jérôme Soulard and Jean François Meunier met 3 veterans home, in Morocco.

- Sixty years later, they are the pride of Morocco,

- Mouloud, Moussik and Mohammed freed Africa in 1942.

- Then Corsica and Italy, in 1943.

- .

- In August 44 they were 20

- and on the beaches of Provence, the Moroccan soldiers were once again in the front line.

- The Moroccan tabors take part in the action, they rush at the heights.

- .

- They did not fear the hardest positions, the highest pitons.

- As agile as cats, they reached and dislodged their enemies from their entrenchments,

- took their weapons away.

- .

- We didn’t think about death,

- those who died just died, it wasn’t a tragedy,

- and those who remained were sent to the front line and had to stand firm.

- When the French shouted at us, ‘Go!’, we used to go. Without a single word.

- In action, the Moroccans suffered tremendous loses,

- thousands of wounded and dead. More dead;

- But the Moroccan soldiers do not surrender anything and end up putting the Germans to flight.

- After Aubagne, Marseille is then freed by the Moroccans.

- We freed these people who were not free.

- We tried to spread freedom.

- The French were happy with us, they shouted, ‘Hurrah to the Moroccan soldiers!’,

- they gave us food, everybody was happy.

- In Africa, in Europe and later in Indochina, Mouloud, Moussik and Mohammed will fight every battle, wounded several times, but safe and sound, and rather proud of their path.

- It’s the Legion of Honor, officer, war cross, fighter.

- On Sunday, they will be the guests of France, awarded one more time for their courage in the landing.

- During the war, over 80,000 Moroccan soldiers served like them under the French flag, to free Europe.
