Abstract

The Euromed Summit begins today, 10 years after a first summit in Barcelona. The North and South leaders will try to boost the cooperation. The aim of the congress of Barcelona in 1995 was to build a free trade area in 2010. But the Oslo peace did not occur and terrorism has grown. The economic partnership between both Mediterranean shores is still at a very early stage with trade imbalances. The migratory pressure is exacerbated at the door of the European Union as in the enclaves of Ceuta and Melilla.
