Abstract

In response to the tensions related to the outbreak of the Gulf War, Robert Vigouroux, mayor of Marseille, has completed a tour in the Mediterranean countries. He first went to Rabat, Morocco; Marseille will participate in the rehabilitation of the Medina. In Thessaloniki, Greece, the metro project and consultation on the port were on the agenda for discussion. In Egypt, the city of Alexandria counts on Marseille for its problems of sanitation and urban transport. In Haifa, Israel, he could see that, like in Marseille, Jews and Arabs have been living together on good terms for a century.
