- The name of Bethlehem is for 2000 years in the dreams of men,

- it is in these streets that on a December evening a woman expecting a child and in search of a roof wandered, and only found a barn.

- This is where today stands the Church of the Nativity,

- where every year on the Christmas Eve, pilgrims come to bow to the place where Christ was born.

- Again this year in front of thirty thousand pilgrims, according to the traditional rite, the effigy of the child was taken from the church to the crypt

- and dropped off at the site of the manger, on the rock where resonated the first cry of the new born that would revolutionize the ancient world.

- 2000 years later the star of Bethlehem still shines in the heart of Christians,

- it still calls to these places that piety of men made sacred,

- it always states its eternal message:

- peace on earth to men of good will.
