Abstract

We meet the inhabitants of Phocaea (Foça), in current Turkey, from which Protis and his sailors set out, before running aground in the creek of Lacydon, where they founded Marseille. There is no trace of the Greek period, and only Roman relics can be found. Today the Turks do not live in the houses abandoned by the Greeks at the time of the great exodus.
