Thanks to the excavations carried out in La Caune de L' Arago, we can reconstruct the environment, fauna and flora that surrounded the man of Tautavel 450,000 years ago. According to Henry de Lumley, the cave was inhabited between 700 000 and 100 000 years BC. From the bones found in the cave, we can say that the man of Tautavel was a very good hunter, but he had not tamed fire. For anthropologists, we still lack information about the shape of his nose, the density of his hair and the color of his skin.Type
