Abstract

Desertification is intensifying. Five countries bordering the Mediterranean are threatened. The water deficit is the consequence of the population increase, industrialization, urbanization and pollution. Morocco, Greece and Spain have already experienced severe droughts. It is anticipated that by 2030, nine Mediterranean countries will consume more water than they have. El Hadj Sene, from the supervision department of forests, said that initiatives have been implemented under the aegis of the FO. The Silva Mediterranea Committee is trying to save the Mediterranean forest.
