Abstract

In the Mediterranean, climate can cause drought periods as well as catastrophic floods with heavy rainfall in spring and autumn. The problem of water is more related to its management than its quality. Roman aqueducts testify of this research for a technique for channeling water to villages and mills. Irrigation and drainage are always essential in the Mediterranean. Today, water is threatened by increased urbanization. Some countries therefore seek ways to exploit the groundwater and desalinate seawater to meet demand. We must therefore maintain the rivers and reuse consumed water.
