Abstract

The bullfighting tradition in Southern France is mentioned throughout illustrated testimonies. In an untamed Camargue, the breeding of this animal, symbol of the Mediterranean, is presented by Hubert Yonnet, raiser. Former French matador, now director of the arenas of Nîmes, Simon Casas defines bullfighting as man and beast’s game and passion. Engaged in ‘capeas’, some adolescents express their interest in this game, first stage of the challenge to death launched by Novillero Richard Millan.
