Abstract

Report devoted to the port of Barcelona and more specifically to the work of dockers, whose forms of activities have changed radically with the traffic of new vehicles (3rd European platform) and containers. 40 women have already assumed that job! The profession is transmitted from generation to generation and the corporation is very united by the memory of strikes and important social gains, like the principle of equality in work organization. The report shows the solidarity which prevails among the residents, mostly from the neighborhood of Barceloneta, and their attachment to this place that may soon become in fashion, much in demand for its picturesque.
