Abstract

Jean Gueganno presents the Corsican magazine devoted to the Genoese towers, scattered around the island. Guy Meria, a historian, reminds us of the historical construction of these towers and the current ignorance of their origin. Built mostly in the 16th century, they allowed the exploitation of lowlands, after previous invaders had made people flee to the mountains; ninety of these towers are now identified in more or less good condition.
