The royal palace of Perpignan dominates the city. It has been built from 1276 to 1349. Perpignan was then the capital of the Majorca Kingdom, ruled by Jacques II. The building was built in the Romanesque style, decorated with six towers and fortified by Vauban in 1659. It then became a military barrack before being bought by the General Council to become a museum.Type
