Following the demolition of a slum, a team of young archaeologists volunteers uncovered layers of ruins and objects from all periods, proving that Martigues was indeed the great Gallo-Roman port expected. The excavations have also led to the discovery of a 'treasure', 116 gold coins dating from the 14th century, era of Queen Jeanne.Type
