Every day, archaeologists make a discovery in the Mediterranean countries or even in the bottom of the sea. They now believe that the number of archaeological sites to discover around the Mediterranean is 20,000. Technological innovations and topographical studies provide great help to archaeologists and facilitate many discoveries. This is what Paolo Somella, a historian and topographer said. Letizia Pani Ermini, an archaeologist, evokes the medieval towns buried in the Mediterranean Sea, on which there is evidence but no material proof. From military aerial photographs dating from the Second World War, the topographers locate any abnormality of the subsoil or any geometric structure.Type
