- When acceding the throne in 1999,

- young Mohammed VI aroused a tremendous hope of democracy for the Moroccan people.

- People were used to saying

- “We feared Hassan II, now we fear for Mohammed VI”.

- First tough measure, the ousting of feared Home Secretary, Driss Basri,

- and the exiles are back.

- and then the family of the most famous of all the missing people, Mehdi Ben Barka.

- Facing Hassan II’s terrible reign,

- the Moroccan people demand justice and truth to the new monarch, right in front of one of the symbols of the Leather Years,

- Tazmamart penal colony.

- Then called by the United Nations,

- Mohammed VI thus wants a commission to settle his father’s past.

- But the victims refuse impunity for the executioners.

- To reconcile with whom?

- First, truth must come to light, truth over everything that happened,

- the ones responsible for torture, the ones responsible for the acts,

- the ones giving orders, justice must apply, but after the truth, after justice,

- On May 16th, 2013, a shock.
