Abstract

After having returned their mandate to the UN, in early 1947, the British prepare to leave Palestine, whereas the conflict intensifies between Palestinian Arabs and Zionist Jews. While the King of Egypt, Farouk, and the Saudi King, Ibn Saud, review the troops and the Arab armies cross the Allenby Bridge, Sir Alan Gordon Cunningham, last High Commissioner of the British Mandate, sets the departure of the troops.
