Abstract

The Mosaic , only Muslim art which has not experienced the Ottoman influence,accounts for a very important part in Moroccan art. This second program aims to show how the Moroccan craftsmen realize these mosaics, the Zelliges, used to decorate walls, stairs or fountains. According to ancestral techniques, the craftsmen make clay tiles with different colors according to the dyes and the degree of cooking. Then from these tiles are cut non-figurative forms, which are then assembled into various beautiful compositions. The camera lingers on the work of artisans, their accomplishments through the bazaars, monuments, houses of Fez, Meknes, etc., showing the link between this art and the Moroccan lifestyle.
