Portrait of Michel L'Hour, curator of the immersed heritage , director of DRASSM, the Department of Archaeological and Underwater Research. Its role is to protect shipwrecks and their treasures against looting. Indeed, these wrecks, and the more or less valuable objects they contain, belong to the archaeological heritage; they have a value not only commercial but also historical, and are owned by the French state.
