Abstract

The whole cultural, religious and economic history of the Mediterranean attests it: it exists only through the exchange of civilizations and multi ethnic cultures. Say that for centuries, in Beirut,the Maronites, Sunnis and Shiites lived in harmony; in Cyprus, Greeks and Turks lived in the same towns and villages ... For twenty years, many coastal countries, seized by nationalism, undermined the harmony and concord, necessary for this area rich in cultural and religious complexities.
