Abstract

In Tel Aviv yesterday evening, at least 70, 000 people defending peace marched… It is the major pacifist gathering since the Intifada began… ITW Tsali RESHEF, leader of the movement “Peace now”, demanding a Palestinian State beside Israel, that the occupied territories be evacuated. PD arrival on stage of the singer Yaffa YARKONI; she sings and goes off stage crying and hiding her face with her hand. Speech by the writer Amos OZ on the platform, asking Yasser Arafat and the Palestinian authorities to put an end to terrorism and the murdering of innocent and civilian people. Yossi BEILIN’s speech, former Labor Minister, accusing Ariel Sharon to lead the country to political, safe and economic disaster. PD crowd of the demonstrators agitating placards and flags in favor of peace.
