Jordan suffers from water scarcity and relies entirely on rainfall. Due to population explosion and the higher standard of living, water demand increased significantly. That is why the authorities took measures to collect rainwater and store it to use it to develop rural areas. Many desert dams were built for that purpose, mainly: El Katrana, El Barqaa, Soltani, Wadi Radjel and Souaqa. In addition to these dams is the water harvesting project in desert areas, and ponds and canals digging with the help of engineers in the armed forces. Farmers are also encouraged to dig wells and build reservoirs to collect rainwater and use it in summer or in dry seasons.Type
