Abstract

The program deals with people's representatives in District Councils and in the Parliament. In 1921, when Prince Abdullah I was appointed Emir of Eastern Jordan, he founded the first consultative council. In 1927, the first legislative council was elected to represent six provinces, mainly Amman, Salt, karak and Irbid. The council was composed of 16 members, but after the unification of the West and the East banks, the number reached forty; twenty for each bank. The program also relates the history of Jordan from the proclamation of the Kingdom in 1947 until 1993, and the role played by King Hussein Bin Tallal in the founding of parliamentary life in Jordan.
